Car And Driver Names Hyundai Ioniq 5 N As 2024 EV Of The Year

Itโs official โผ๏ธ The EV masquerading as a gas-guzzling hatchback has been named Car and Drivers EV of the year. No, it was certainly not due to its efficiency as it would probably make Tesla Engineers scream but is due to its performance, features, and Hyundai finding a way to make an EV fun to drive. In an era where cars are blending in and starting to look like iPhones, the Ioniq 5N stands out not only with its distinctive styling but 651 horsepower which properly it from 0-60 in just three seconds.
What is also sick about this car is you can take it to a track and drive it like you would an international combustion car. Inside the car boasts very advanced tech which one would expect from a $60,000 car in 2024. There is an endless amount of settings to tailor the car exactly how you want. It even includes two Driver mode buttons on the steering wheel just like an M car. What is so cool about this car is its features designed to make it feel and sound like driving a traditional car with an engine. The N Sound feature gives it exhaust and startup engine sounds. The N e-shift allows you to use the paddle shifters to emulate manual shifting in a car with an RPM counter and everything. I truly am a huge fan of the Ionig 5 N and if you own a performance car and want a great EV daily drive to have some fun in, this is truly an amazing choice.
BMW Teases An M2 Based Race Car

Credit: BMW
The M2 is one of the most iconic performance cars of all time. Despite its intense performance, it has never served as a platform for a race car like its M3 and M4 siblings. This will change in 2026 as BMW has recently teased a racing variant will be hitting the track. The details of this new variant are pretty sparse; the only information we have is this sick photo of BMW M posted on their Insta account. We do not know the car's performance details, and BMW did not even say it based on the M2.
BMW does run cars in the GT3 and GT4 racing class although this new M2 variant is much less aggressive. GT cars often feature aggressive aero kits and spoilers which are missing on this M2 variant. BMW may be planning a spec class racing division similar to the Toyota GR86 Cup or it could race in smaller regional racing categories. It will be sweet to see this new variant hitting the track in a few years.
Ford Recalls 4600 Mustangs Due to Suspension Issues

Credit: Ford
Ford made a little bit of a whoopsies as is now having to recall close to 5000 cars due to suspension issues all thanks to one of their suppliers. This issue is certainly a little concerning as imperfections in the casting process could lead to it cracking โ ๏ธ. This could make the car undrivable and you and I both know that would be a very bad thing.
To get technical, the specific suspension piece that is likely to fail is known as a suspension knuckle. An improperly fitted debris filter used in the manufacturing process resulted in them not being produced with the proper rigidity. Ford plans to notify Mustang owners later this month with dealership notifications already taking place. Ford plans to inspect affected models and replace the suspension if necessary. 2024 has certainly been the year of recalls with all major American manufacturers and Toyota having issued one this year.
Ford Everest Gets The Offroad Treatment With A New Tremor Model

Credit: Ford Australia
The Ford Everest is the posher cousin of the Bronco which is offroad-focused but includes many of the luxury features would find in an Explorer or a mid-tier F-150. Based on the Ford Ranger, this body-on-frame SUV is sold exclusively overseas and not in the States. In Australia, Ford has made the Everest even more offroad capable through the edition of a Tremor model. And I have to say this new model looks sweet. It is the same you can buy this in the Land of The Free.
The Tremor sits one inch higher than the standard Everest and features 17-inch wheels with General Grubber AT3 tires with a 1.1-inch wider track. It also includes upgraded suspension, a rock crawl mode, and an array of packages that offer skid plates and other more aggressive features. The Tremor comes with a sick look which includes a backed-out grill, robust skid plate, tow hooks, and heavy-duty side steps. Under the hood, the Tremor is the same as the standard Everest, with the same 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel engine. It is no slouch though as it makes 247 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. This means it can tow an impressive 7716 pounds which is great for a midsize SUV. For $51,600 with the current exchange rate, it is also very reasonably priced.
